Jamb UTME 2012 Results Released ...

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board has released the results of the 2012 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, and only THREE candidates scored above 300.

This was revealed by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, at a news conference in Abuja today. He also said the results of 27, 266 candidates across eight states were withheld for various reasons.

A total of 1,503,931 candidates sat for the 2012 UTME, which held across the country on March 24, with Imo state having the highest number of applicants with 123,865 candidates; Delta came second with 88,876 candidates while Anambra placed third with 84,204 candidates. Abuja recorded the lowest number with 3,380 candidates, Sokoto placed next with 5, 664 candidates while 5,713 candidates sat from Zamfara.

He also stated that preparations are being made to enable students check the UTME 2012 Results with the scratch card they registered with...

236 Days of Rain To Hit Lagos Soon

Mr Tunji Bello who is the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment said in a press confrence yesterday that Lagos residents should prepare for 236 days of heavy rain in 2012. This Where his exact words..

"The natural phenomena that controlled 2011 rainfall are still in force and as such it has been predicted that rainfall will commence from Thursday, March 22, with a margin of error of four days. To a large extent we will agree that this prediction is true as the rains have started in Lagos. It has also been predicted that the end of the season for 2012 is November 12 with a margin of error of two days; with between November 10 and 14 as probable days. The total length of rainy season for the year is approximately put at 236 days with a margin of error of two days. Like last year, Lagos will experience heavy rainfall with serious intensity".

Now 236 days of rain.. That wont be funny...

Man Falls To Death in WAEC's collapsed elevator

 A young man named Fatai died yesterday after falling off a moving elevator on the eighth floor of the 12-storey building of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) building in Yaba, Lagos.

Fatai, came to the WAEC office to help a relative submit some documents, had stepped out of the elevator when the doors opened midway on the eight floor, thinking he had reached its destination. Unfortunately he stepped out into open space and plunged to his death. The elevator wasn't functioning well and there was no notice to warn people.

His arms, legs were almost detached from his body. WAEC officials have expressed regret over his death but according to reports, the family of the deceased have taken the matter to the police and might be suing WAEC for wrongful death

Boko Haram : Redeemed Christian Church of God To Install Security Cameras In All Parishes

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Adeboye, has ordered that all Redeemed Church Parishes across the country should install the Close Circuit TV Monitors, in order forestall any form of attacks on the church and its members. Apart from the CCTV installation, which has taken effect in some parishes, some of the parishes now have security men in mufti parading the grounds of the church, staying vigilant, and monitoring everything that goes on outside, in case of suspected movement of persons or vehicles. All this is because some churches in Lagos were advised by the State Secret Service to be more watchful, as suicide bombers target churches with a large congregation.

29 year old man rapes 19yr old in-law to death

Barely two weeks after a young lady identified as Faith Akin was allegedly raped to death by a middle aged man, a similar incident has been reported at the Epe Police Station.

According to the report, 29-year-old Titus Ime (pictured above) raped his in-law, a 19-year-old woman identified as Blessing John, to death. The incident occurred in a forest at Epe. The suspect allegedly trailed Blessing to her father’s farm, where he raped her to death.

Ime, reporting the incident, said he assaulted Blessing due to her refusal to date him. The rapist cum murderer blamed his dastardly act on his “great love" for the deceased.
“I just moved to Lagos from Akwa -Ibom State to look for a job when I met Blessing. She is my in-law, as my uncle is married to her elder sister," he said.
"As soon as I set my eyes on her, I fell in love with her but I kept it to myself. When I could not bear it anymore, I went to her to declare my love for her but she turned me down. I kept pestering her but she refused blatantly that she did not love me; this made me angry.”
Ime added that despite Blessing’s refusal to date him, he had to device a means to force her to have sex with him.
“I did not intend to kill Blessing but my feeling for her was very strong. So after monitoring her movement for some time, I discovered that she goes to the farm to uproot cassava in the evening with her father. That day, I trailed her from her house to the forest. She was alone and she did not know I was following her, when she got into the dense forest and there was no one in sight, I ran ahead of her and grabbed her, and started declaring my love for her but she turned me down.

"I was very angry and I grabbed her dress. She started struggling with me but I took a big stick and hit her on her head, she slumped immediately and I bend down over her and removed her skirt and had sex with her. All this while, she did not respond but I still had sex with her a second time but I do not know that she was dead; I thought she was just unconscious.”

After committing the act, the suspect hid in the forest for four days. He however came out of his hiding when he could not bear the hunger anymore, and reported himself to his family who then handed him over to the police for prosecution.

Blessing’s corpse were discovered by her father and has been deposited at a public mortuary for autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the Homicide department at Panti, Yaba for further investigation.

PHOTOS - Tibetan protester sets himself on fire

27year old Tibetan protester, Jamphel Yeshi, today set himself on fire and sprinted for 50m through New Delhi, in a demonstration during the Chinese president's visit to India.


Yeshi, who was on fire for about two minutes before he collapsed, sustained burns on 98 per cent of his body. Other protesters doused him in water and took him to the hospital where he's in critical condition.


Yeshi and other Tibetans protesters (who now live in India) were demonstrating against China's rule over Tibet and the Chinese President's arrival in India later this week for a summit meeting.

Riot at Federal Polytechnic Oko, after masquerade kills two students

There's serious rioting, looting and bloodshed going on around the federal Polytechnic, Oko Campus, in Anambra State. The fight started after a masquerade allegedly killed two final year students of the school during an event yesterday.

The reality show star and former wife of Kris Humphries, Kim Kadarshian, was recently ‘flour bombed’ on the red carpet, during the promotion of her new scent, True Reflections at the London Hotel, in West Hollywood.

The 31-year-old, had earlier arrived the scene decked in a pair of leather trousers, a blue shirt and a black blazer before a female ‘fan’ produced a bag of flour and despite the heavy security, threw it at the star. The woman was quoted to have said ‘This is for Kris Humphrey’ as she launched her attack.

Kim who described the experience as the ‘craziest, unexpected and weird thing’ that has ever happened to her, returned ten minutes after the incident, to claps and cheers from her devoted fans.

Although Kim is pressing no charges, the woman was arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff department and charged for non-criminal battery.

Fight Over Late Ojukwu’s property

Members of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu family may be setting for a showdown over the sharing formula of the ex-Biafran warlord’s property. A prominent member of the Ojukwu family, who did not want his name in print, said, “About two weeks after the burial of Ezeigbo Gburugburu, family members are already forming groups against one another on how they can benefit from the property he (Ojukwu) left behind.

“This is very disturbing because it has led to accusations and counter-accusations and then the hatred that was already in the family is even getting worse by the day.
“Some of them felt that they were left out of the burial plans while the others ran the show with the aim of being close to the President and ensure that they benefit from the seat of power after the burial.”
Debe, the eldest son of the deceased, had a fortnight ago told our correspondent that the problem in the family before the death of his father had to do with the large estate his grandfather left behind.
He had alleged, “There have been litigation over the estate my grandfather left behind and other members of my family felt they were going to use the litigation to blackmail me.

“That is why when they (family members) wanted to see President Goodluck Jonathan over the burial plans, they decided to be hostile towards me and ensured that I was not part of the team that visited the President.
“Due to my nature, I decided not to allow the hostility impede the burial activities of my father, a man I still respect so much even in death.”

Debe, however, promised on Tuesday to speak “soon”, where he would “unveil the true details surrounding the crisis in the family”.

Meanwhile, the GRA, Enugu residence of the Igbo leader looked abandoned as no family member was around when our correspondent visited.

Some of the domestic servants, who were seen at the gate, said they suspected trouble might be brewing having observed the consistent visits by friends and associates of Ojukwu, Prof. Okwu Okwu, who have been coming to settle differences among family members.

Teacher caught with a 7-year-old female pupil in a school toilet.

A 29-year-old Mathematics and Social Studies graduate of a college of education, Mr. Seun Oyeleke, has been caught pants down with a seven-year-old female pupil in a school toilet.

Oyeleke teaches at a private nursery and primary school on Church Street, Osogbo, Osun State.

One of the pupils’ mother, Mrs. A Ajiboye, had been informed by her son, who attends Oyeleke’s tutorials with her five-year-old sister, that the teacher was fond of taking the girl out of the classroom to an unknown destination.



“I told my brother, who is a policeman, and he urged me to be patient. My brother then devised a plan with which we caught the teacher,” she said.

Ajiboye told her son that whenever the teacher took her sister out, he should run home and inform her immediately.

But on Saturday, Oyeleke took another girl to the toilet on the school premises and the boy quickly dashed home to inform her mother.

The mother rushed to the school, where he found the teacher on a seven-year-old inside the toilet.

Narrating the incident to PUNCH Metro on Tuesday, Ajiboye said, “When my children were leaving for the tutorials on Saturday morning, I told my son to rush back home whenever the teacher takes any girl to the toilet.

“At about 11:30am, my son rushed in to inform me that he had taken another girl out, I quickly rushed to the school, went to the toilet and forced the door open, I met him on top of the little child.

“I was very furious and I began to shout and wail. I called on neighbours to come and see what was happening. He was subsequently taken to Dugbe Police Station in Osogbo.”

“He took me to the bathroom in the building and removed my pant and lay on me and later asked me to wear my pant back and return to the class,” the little girl said.

At the police station, the teacher pleaded, “Please, spare me; I didn’t know what came over me. The effect of what I did just dawned on me. I did not rape them. I only had sex with them. It’s the devil’s work.”

But the proprietress of the school, Mrs. Amoke Alao, denied insinuations by neighbours that the teacher was notorious for sleeping with minors.

Alao said Oyeleke was perceived as a religious and diligent person and nobody suspected that he could commit such a crime.

Explaining that her children also attend the school, Alao said she would not have tolerated such a crime if she knew Oyeleke was doing it.

The proprietress said she was unaware of the tutorials organised by Oyeleke, saying that only one of the two affected girls is a pupil of her school, while the other only attended Oyeleke’s tutorials.

Both girls were taken to police clinic at Oke-Fia, Osogbo, where a medical officer attended to them.

The medical officer, who chose to be anonymous, said the teacher did not penetrate the vaginas of the girls, adding that his organ, however, had an impact on their pubic areas.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Taiwo Olugbemileke, said the case would be investigated since it had been reported to the police.
